Updates Brianna has been having numerous amounts of problems with the new motor. It was running about a second slower than it should have been and the clutch wasn't set up correctly when they got it and the car wasnt idoling right. Her dad brought it home this weekend and tore it all apart and found what he thinks is the problem. The piston wasn't seating correctly when running. The lip at the bottom of the piston wasnt grinded all the way. Only half way. He fixed it and it seems to be operating a lot better off the car. The flywheel can't be turned with one hand anymore. Everyone is hoping the car will pick up and run a lot more consistently and that Brianna will pick back up in points. Shes is dropping like a rock and most of it is the car, not her. She is currently 4th with 22 points and the two boys tied for second are only up on her by 2 points. Codey, the points leader is up on Bri by 9 points. That will be tough to catch but it is possible. Jamison, in the number 5 spot is down by 3 points. She has people after her on all sides so she is really going to have to stand her ground and start doing well or else theres no chance of going to bracket finals this year. - 7*27*05
Brianna and her family got her motor back about two weeks ago. It is on the car and almost ready to run. They need new fuel lines and a few other small things and then they are all set!! The new motor is planned to run 8.50's. Brianna is going to have to run for her masters license since she is running under 8.80. Wish her and her family luck with the new motor!! -->3*28*05
Well this years season is already over and we are all very happy. Brianna won the 'o4 junior champion at Quaker. That puts her as the winner of Junior Super Pro points!! Her reward for winning track champ will be a gold card, which gets her into all the points races next year for absolutly free. For winning Super Pro points champion, she gets a new clutch system. But what Bri and her family need the most is the engine rebuild that goes along with the gold card. Brianna blew up her only two motors this past September/October. The first one happened during first round eliminations of the Race Of Champions at Bracket Finals. She says "First of all I red lit, so I was pretty mad about that. But I didn't do anything different at the top end. I just ran it out and let up after the 1/8 and as soon as I lifted my foot from the gas, I heard a big bang and the motor shut off. I knew it wasnt good but I tried to tell myself that it was just something small and it could be fixed. But when I climbed out of my car (which was sitting in the middle of the track) and looked around at the motor, everything was still in tack and looking okay, so I knew it was on the inside and that I was done for the weekend. My mom and dad didnt even notice that I had broke until they got to the top end and started panicking because I wasnt waiting. When my dad came out onto the return road he looked at my motor I knew right away. He told me that I broke the crank and that I was done for the weekend. I started to cry. People were staring at me but i didnt care because it was my first time at Brackets, and I had just blown up my motor. I just couldnt believe it. And to add to it, we got home and my dad tore apart the motor, and when the crank broke, it took the rod with it. The motor is trashed." Her second motor blew up while she was tracing at her home track, just two weeks after Bracket Finals. She was running a backup motor which was topping out at high 10s. The block cracked on her first time run of the day and she continued to run on it. She ended up making 6 to 7 passes on a cracked block only because that race determined who was Quaker City Raceway's Junior Dragster Track Champion. First round, she redlit BUT her opponent red lit first, Bri took the win. Second round, Sammie had car troubles at the stripe and let out of it, running way off, she gave Brianna the win of the round AND the Championship. When asked how she felt when she won, she said "I literally didnt believe that I won it. I was prepared to get out of the car at the end of the race and shake Sammie's hand telling her congratulations on your championship. I was still prepared as I was driving off the track after the final run. It didnt hit me that I really won until I got out of my car and everyone attacked me with hugs and high fives and good jobs!!" As you can see, Brianna and her family really need this rebuild. The building is done by Amends Racing Engines. The family will have to pay for the parts that Amends decides to put in the motor, but ARE will do all the labor. This ensures that the motor will run more smoothly and hopefully faster in Brianna's eyes. She states "I want to go faster but not too fast. I don't want to run 7.90s because I would be running too close to the cutoff. But I want to run faster than 9.30s, thats what I was running with my first motor that went boom. I say 8.20s or 8.30s will work for me. Plus, if I'm running 7.90s in my 6th year of racing, what do I have to look forward to in my last 3 years of junior drag racing? Nothing!!" |
The Banquet was a hit!! The banquet was a blast! The kids went swimming and just hung out around the hotel. Most of the adults went to the casino. It deffinetly was a full night of fun...untill everyone left in the morning. The ice cream was great too!! ((The real stuff, not the butter)) |
